Why Give?

Because You, Jesus, Gave Your Life for Me

This is My Offering

Christ
died so that we might live forevermore, and in addition:
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." (3 John 2)

God wants his people to prosper.  This is a result of a quality of life, commitment, dedication, and action that is in line with God's word.

Prosperity is an on-going or progressive state of success and well being.  It is intended for all areas of our lives, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially, and morally.

No one area should totally dominate, we must seek to maintain a balance.

Spiritually
(faith-believe)

"This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words."  (God speaking and teaching us by and through his Holy Spirit.)
                                                           (1 Corinthians 2:13)

"Because you have so little faith, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

                                                                                                       (Matthew 17:20)

There are 422 references to faith in the bible.  Faith is hope believing and so many times believing in the impossible becoming possible.

Mentally
(attitude: the act of gratitude, or lack thereof)

God's people, whenever an offering was being given or giving their tithes, they did it with a free will; they gave willingly and with much commitment and adoration.  No one was ever "forced" to give.

Their mental attitude was to "give" because they
trusted God to take care of them.

Emotionally
(attitude)

God's people lined up their emotions with God's word and principles for daily living.  God set up the standards which have been passed from generation to generation--as a life source.
"This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I  have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.  Now choose life so that you and your children may live."

                                                                                    (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Note:  Jesus continued the same principle when he died at the cross so that we could be reconciled to God, through eternal life.  Jesus, our redeemer of life.

Physically

(affected by our mental
and emotional attitude)

He said, "If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands, and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases that I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you."                                                             (Exodus 15:26)

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,  and by his wounds we are healed."                            (Isaiah 53:5)

Financially

(In God We Trust)

In God We Trust or Do We?
Do we really trust God with our finances?

Are people not being taught the seed faith principle in giving to God's house in order that the finances of the people are returned through the multiplication principle?

Do we need to see a continued decline in our economy if people do not tithe, or give offerings, as a means to build God's house first?

"A son honors his father, and a servant his master.  If I am a father, where is the honor due me?  If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the Lord Almighty.
                                                                                                           (Malachi 1:6)

"When you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as  sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?" says the Lord.
                                                                                                          (Malachi 1:13)

"Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord.  For I am a great King," says the LORD Almighty, "and my name is to be feared among the nation."
                                                                                                          (Malachi 1:14)

Morally
(Integrity)

When did wrong become right?

Why?

Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.                             (Psalm 28:5)
